Walter Kazmierczak was first elected to the Township Board in 2001 and served as a Trustee for 15 years before being appointed as Highway Commissioner in 2016. He also previously worked as the Manager of Community Relations with the Illinois Council of Banks and Real Estate. Walter graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in political science. His particular areas of interest as a member of the Township Board included senior services, allocation of social agency grant money and governmental ethics. He has volunteered for many community and township events including Senior Bingo at The Taste of Park Ridge, Park Ridge Electronics Recycling Day, and served as a judge for the annual Senior Spelling Bee, a statewide competition.
In 2014, Kazmierczak assumed the duties of being the liaison between The Neighborhood Watch Group, The Cook County Sheriff’s Department, and the Maine Township elected officials, helping bring important issues such as local crime prevention for discussion with residents.
He is a Board Member for the Township Officials of Cook County (TOCC) and has held offices in TOCC’s Trustee Division including terms as President, Treasurer, and currently as its Secretary.
